Lega Navale Italiana Sez. Civitavecchia - March 20th-24th

CIVITAVECCHIA EUROPEAN JUNIOR, YOUTH & MASTERS FESTIVAL OF WINDSURFING

The European Festival of Windsurfing will be held in Civitavecchia from the 20th to the 24th of March ,2008.

The Festival includes the European Championship for the Techno 293 class and the European Youth and Masters Championship for the Raceboard class.

The event will be organised by the Lega Navale Italiana of Civitavecchia, in conjunction with IWA, Coni and the Federazione Italiana Vela, with the support of the Town Council and the Port Authority of Civitavecchia.

A price agreement has been reached with the Grimaldi Tour, a shipping company which operates on the route Barcelona/Civitavecchia/Barcelona and Civitavecchia-Tolone-Civitavecchia.

Beneficial rates will be offered to all participants to the European Windsurfing Championships, just showing the Membership Card of the relevant Sailing Federation, at the moment of the reservation.

The Class

Techno 293 Class
The Techno 293 One design class, is nowdays the most dinamic class in the world with a high number of attending that shows an extraordinary growing trend.

Raceboard Class
This class represents one of the most interesting sport existing in the international panorama.
Is considered by the expert a sort of ”laboratory-class” to compare equipments and materials.

The Race

Races will take place in the waters in front of la Marina, the Lungomare Thaon de Revel, Borgo Odescalchi and Punta del Pecoraro. At the most, three races will be disputed each day.
In the area bounded on the South by Punta del Pecoraro and on the north by the antemurale, two race-fields will be placed, one for Techno 293 Class and one for Raceboard Class. The race-fields, marked by cylindrical buoys, will be placed, in relation to the direction of the wind, in the waters shown in the picture below.

The European Championship event, as a whole, aims to attract a considerable audience: windsurfing fanatics, sports fans but also a great number of simple curious people. Communication on the most important national and regional media, will receive a great attention, aiming at involving a large public.
